| WWII Nominal Roll Team list shows a Robinson (Geelong) but cannot identify a connection to a Robinson in Changi that fits. Have inquired with Geelong and they have no record of a Robinson or Robertson of that era. However there was a Roy Robertson of the 2/9th Field Ambulance who played for the 2/9th Field Ambulance football team (is in team photo, see below) in “Carrying on under fire and in captivity : stories from the Australian Army Medical Corps 8th Division under Malaya command” by Carl Johnson. So this seems best fit given the number of other 9th Field Ambulance members that played in the Victorian team. “The Changi Brownlow” (Perry) says “Robinson of the 9th’s Convalescence Depot, Geelong Seconds)” which would seem to fit with Roy Robertson of the 2/9th Ambulance. Ancestry: When Roy Robertson was born on January 4, 1907, in Victoria, Australia, his father, Ernest, was 38 and his mother, Mary, was 38. He married Annie Josephine Carroll in 1934 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. He died on October 9, 1995, in Cheltenham, Victoria, Australia, at the age of 88 |
