| WWII Nominal Roll Tom Baker (Old Coburgians) won the 1940 F. H . Woods Medal Under 18 Premier Division Men Essendon Districts league. As per 2021 EDFL Annual Report. (With Tanks to Carolynn Larsen, Essendon FC Historian, who noted Tom tied with Bill Hutchinson and presumably won the medal on count back) Sporting Globe 29/9/1945 Reports Tom Baker of Glenroy who played Essendon Junior League returning from Changi, “says he is the footballer Essendon has been looking for”. Sporting Globe 13 October 1945 Reports that T Baker played for “Essendon” in the first Changi Football competition Ancestry: When Thomas Frederick Baker was born on March 8, 1922, in Oakleigh, Victoria, Australia, his father, Cecil, was 31 and his mother, Gwenllian, was 28. He married Gwenda Lena Madder on March 30, 1946, in Victoria, Australia. They had two children during their marriage. He died on August 19, 1984, in Moree, New South Wales, Australia, at the age of 62, and was buried in Healesville, Victoria, Australia. |
