| WWII Nominal Roll The Age 08/11/1938 Trevor Joyce a premiership player for East Kew and awarded “Best Attended Training trophy Trevor played for East Kew in 1937, 38 and 40. In 1940 he kicked 51 goals for East Kew. His name does not appear in 1939. The East Kew Football club, like many at the time, went into recess after 1940. Most of the players transferred to Kew Football. Trevor had enlisted in August 1940 and he was in Singapore by March 1941 so he was not able to join his mates at Kew, however he was playing for the 2/19th Ambulance Football team. (Thanks to Ian Job for details on Trevor’s time at East Kew FC) Sporting Globe 06/12/1941 Champions of Malaya, 2/19th Ambulance team win the Malaysian championship. Trevor Joyce in bottom row of picture. The day after this story was published Japan attacked Pearl Harbour and began their invasion of Malaya. Sporting Globe 29/9/45 Trevor Joyce in Darwin played football with East Kew greetings to his mother Sporting Globe 13/10/1945 Trevor Joyce captained “Carlton” team in the first Changi football competition and led the goal kicking Ancestry: When Trevor Lindsay Joyce was born on August 24, 1916, in Wynyard, Tasmania, Australia, his father, Thomas, was 37 and his mother, Edith, was 34. He married in Victoria, Australia. He died on April 3, 1976, in St Kilda, Victoria, Australia, at the age of 59, and was buried in Warrandyte, Victoria, Australia. |
